Be Here Now

This morning in yoga, it was all about rinsing out the past, accepting the future and to just Be Here Now.  Be here now...that is a difficult concept for me.  As I'm sure most of us may struggle with it, my mind runs a million miles per hour and I have a hard time slowing it down to just Be Here Now.  I know I can even take in a lesson from Mr. T who does not care at all about what happened yesterday or where we are going tomorrow.  He is always in the moment.  Always here now.

I once read the book "The Power of Now" by Eckhard Tolle.  It is challenge for me to leave the past behind and extremely difficult not to obsessively plan the future.  I remember the book being interesting and eye opening at times.  So perhaps it is time to bring that book out again in this transitional part of my life and with a little yoga flow I will be ready to rock 2012
OK Yes....2012 is going to ROCK.  I begin Tuesday as a student teacher and I am beyond excited.  Holy Cow....My dreams to work with my passion is finally here!!!

So enjoy a little Charles Brown jam with me and here is to Bringing in a Brand New Year!

Kickin' It

Mr. T is loving soccer so far!!  It hasn't exactly been the "games" we thought it would be, but definitely has been a good time.  And I'm pretty sure his favorite part is snack time at the end!

Either way...he's got one heck of a kick!

September comes with mixed emotions

Happy - Its my favorite month of the year.  Cooler weather, but no need for coats and scarves just yet.  Starts off with a Holiday weekend and includes the celebration of mine and Gator Guy's Wedding (and dating) anniversary.  And starts the beginning of the beautiful fall colors!!

Anticipation - September of Twenty-Ten is one of my busiest months between work, home, and everything else I have involved myself in.  And so, I take a deep breath and get ready rock it.

Stressed - Because I am crazy, I am planning my HS reunion.  I have a great committee working with me, but if the event turns out crappy, I'm definitely the one everyone can send their hate mail to.

On the edge of my seat - In case you can't tell, I love football.  I love the Broncos.  I love the Gators. And I love Tebow.  (I even had a dream that Tebow & I were on a date. I was annoyed because everyone wanted his autograph and we couldn't have privacy.  This obsession of mine is becoming ridiculous!)  But either way, I cannot freaking wait for this football season to kick off.  It will start with a bang with the Rocky Mt Showdown of CSU vs CU this Saturday.  Go Rams!!!

In need of cuteness - With the reunion and the wedding of one of my BFFs coming up I need some super cute and cheap dresses to wear.  I actually think I am going to hit up Forever 21 first.  Because yes, I am 21 at heart.

Shedding - That's right.  The Shed was my plan to lose the 50 lbs Mr T. so graciously gifted to me.  And since I was sucessful (Woohoo) in that effort, its time to revisit some of that methodology to get that body to a level of  oh-so-confident.  Why?  Three reason: 1) Reunion  2) BFFs Wedding  3) HAWAII

Sad - I can't even begin to count how many times I said, "We should get together this summer" to all my favorite friends.  And here we are, closing in on the end of summer holiday weekend, and none of those summer plans worked out.  Now its, "Let's get together this football season."

Hopeful - I seem to have so much on my plate that I am just hopeful that I will get through it all and end the month with a bang...on the beach in Hawaii

Determined - Damn straight I am going to get through it all and not only complete my "To Dos", but Rock 'em.  Because well.....I rock.

The Game of Catch Up

This has been my life lately. Catching Up.  I am normally very organized...well planned.  Quick to respond to emails.  Always on the go.  I. Get. Things. Done.

But lately...goodness....It has been a struuuuuggle!  I have completely forgot about my Goooals.  (Can't remember the last time I took vitamins, did my nightly sit-ups, or packed up the snacks for a week.)  My inbox is way too full for my comfort.  And I have so many outstanding action items that I am just overwhelmed. Poor Mr. T's blog is bare.  It's like the babe turns one and I give up on updating family and friends on all of his pure cuteness.  Trust me, the cuteness is still there.  I'm just a slacker!

So my June Goooal.... Catch the F Up.  Catch up on that massive do to list.  Catch up on planning my 10 year reunion (Yes, I volunteered for this duty and now realize that I am CRAZY).  Catch up on reaching out to family and being there to support them.  Catch up with  my girlfriends (with a bottle of wine please).  And like I said, just Catch the F Up.

I Can Do Anything Good.

I didn't set an official goal this month, since I would say May was dedicated to the marathon.  But I will now take a tip from the young, gifted & talented Miss Jessica and Like everything in my life!  Not to mention this is just so darn cute and hilarious!

Vitamins & Wolves

So it just hit me...it is April. And there are two reasons I get excited for the beginning of a new month:

1)  My Gooooals:  April Fools marks the day that I get to set a new Goal to conquer.  So far, I have mastered my January, February, and March goooals.  What will April be???

Vitamins.  Supplements.  Pills.  I am Terrible at taking my vitamins.  I tend to pop 'em when Gator Guy or Mr. T gets sick in hopes of beating the spread.  But I need more than just that.  Because let's be honest, whose diet these days really does have everything in it that our bodies need.  And I'm ok (not great, but ok) at taking the tiny BC pill every day, but when it comes to reordering the next pack,...FAIL.  I come up with every excuse in the book than to just refill and continue on.  And so, I am devoting April to taking down those horse sized vitamins and pills in hopes of being healthier, stronger, and waiting on Mr. T's little sister.

So far I am just taking 4 vitamins.  A Daily, Fish Oil, MSM (for my joints), and Quercetin (to help with my immune system and endurance when running).  (But Please consult your doctor about any vitamins you take.  And do not, I repeat, do NOT take my advice or follow in my footsteps just because I said so.  Because remember, I'm the girl that got knocked out by the mechanical bull and the one that thought it was completely logical to carry around a doggy pee pad, Just in Case)

2)  A New Month Means A New....Vamp or Wolf:  Yes, it is true.  This is the actual calendar that hangs in my closet.  The actual calendar that I gaze at as I get dressed for the day.  And the beginning of a new month adds so much suspense I can hardly handle it.  Will it be Edward?  Jacob?  Bella?  Carlisle?  The possibilities are endless and just so exciting.  And just look at who is up for April.

Dear Jacob,

Now that I get to see you every day, I have come to the conclusion that I  have made the switch.  I am on your Team.  Team Jacob.  Well, at least for the month of April.  (Shhh, Edward, don't worry, once you come back to me in less than thirty days, I will be all yours)   But back to you Jake -  I must say that I am a little disappointed that you are wearing a shirt.  That is so unlike you.  Are you really ok with ruining yet another shirt once it tears off as you turn into the massive beast??  Does the Pack know you are wearing clothes now?  Do people even recognize you?  Because I have to say that I almost didn't without access to the pecks and raging biceps.  Either way, I will enjoy April.

xoxo,
Kat

March Madness Goooals: Sit Ups

I started my Goooals for 2010  in place of the usual New Years resolution.  I have now added & conquered (woohoo) The Morning Stretch and Getting Organized.  My March Madness Goooal will include:  Sit Ups. We all know crunching away the flab is good for us, and you can never do too many.  I never get done with my Sit Ups and think, "Damn, I really should have finished that ice cream instead.

Obviously being a Mom means I am short on time.  And when I'm at the gym or on a run, I always put off my Sit Ups because that's something I can just do at home, right?  I don't need to do it at a special mat or gigantic ball at the gym....So I will just put it off for later that night, right?  Wrong.  It never gets done.  And so even though I cannot add more minutes in the day, I can dedicate 5 minutes to my Get Ready For Bed routine and add in my Sit Ups.  And so here we go, March Madness.  Give me those abs that I once had.

Ready...Get Set...Its Monday

So instead of the typical New Years Resolution, I started my monthly Goooals.  In January, I set out to wake up and stretch first thing every morning.  But I have to be honest...this Gooooal was a hit or miss.  I just kept forgetting to do my yoga-like-stretch-moves before jumping in the shower.  So I will continue to work on that one.  But I must say, mornings that I did get that stretch in...I felt Fantastic!!

For February I have decided to Get Organized.  And not necessarily organize the whole house  (write that one down for later). But instead to get my week off to a good start for both myself and Gator Guy.  I want to take some time once a week and pack snacks, lunches, and plan out dinners.  I know there's so much more I can do to get ready for that dreaded Monday, but I'm starting out small with my snacks.  The easy part, is I will just have to do this 4 times to achieve my goal in February (and yes, the goal is to continue all my Gooooals and make them a lifestyle).  But the bonus of this one, is it will hopefully cut back on spoiled produce that sits in our fridge because I forget to bag it all out for us to chow down on.

And so, here's to you Ziplock, or target brand Up and Up bags, I will use (and reuse) you in February so that I can sucessfully keep up my 3 meals and 2 snacks a day.

Gooooaaaalll

Ok, so I have been pondering about my New Years Resolutions. Yes, I know I am a week late.  I've thought about a Top Ten, or highlighting certain items from my My 101 that I could concentrate on for 2010.  I've thought about weight loss goals, running goals, and productivity goals.  But I just couldn't make up my mind.

However, I do know that goals and resolutions are best when they are attainable, measurable, and rewardable!  And so, I decided to take it month by month. Just one step in front of the other. Each month in 2010, I will focus on one Goal.  One Goal that I will attempt to master in 30 days.

So here we go....she shoots.....she scores....Goooaaaalllll:

January...The Morning Stretch.

The other day, Dr. Oz, talked about the Seven Daily Deadly Sins.  And number one was:  Not stretching first thing when you wake up.  Think about it.  Every animal and cartoon character does a cute little morning stretch as soon as they awake for the day.  So why not add Kat to that list.

So join me in playin some good morning jams and a little morning stretch to set your day right!!  Goal number one...Here we go!!

Short and Simple

Today I asked Gator Guy what his New Year's Resolution is...

His response:  "To be a little bit more awesome than I was last year.  That's all."

Short and sweet.  I will be posting mine tomorrow.  Busy watching the Gators kick some A$$ right now ;)
