Nancy and Lindsey

So three things happen when my Dearest E and I have extend our Friday happy hour outside of the home.

1.  We venture over to a very dark and sometimes depressing dive bar just near our house.  We know that this bar is always dead and yet it always seems like a good idea.

2.  We spend a lot of singles on the juke box playing songs like Whiney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Bell Biv DeVoe.  We are always convinced that everyone else will love our brilliant music selection.  And in fact they do.  Everyone was jammin it out. Except for the old guy asking for Pearl Jam.  Pearl Jam....seriously??  Am I wearing a flannel shirt and doc martins??  No.  I stopped that outfit the day My So Called Life was cancelled.

3.  We suddenly call ourselves Nancy and Lindsey.  I'm not sure where the names came from.  I think Linds always had that in her back pocket, and mine was just recently created.  But I am beginning to embrace the new alter ego.

We also tend to text our husbands.  Well....actually Linds always texts Gator Guy to let him know our plan and that we are going to church.  Whatever.  It's pretty funny to us at least at the moment.

Ten Thoughts for the Weekend

1.  The Broncos beat the Steelers!!!!  What an amazing game!!  And with an 80-yard touch down pass from my Boy Tebow to DThomas!!! Unbelievable!!

2.  I might have shed a tear (or at least complained as much as possible) as I had to give up my ticket to today's game because I was sick.  Ladies and Gents...that means I was siiiiccckkk.  Not just a cough.  Because not to see my BFF Tebow in person and in action....heartbreaking!!  But at least I was warm in my Bronco Snuggie.

3.  I finished my first week as a student teacher and absolutely love it.  Still working on learning 170 student names and lesson planning, but I already know that it is all worth and where I am suppose to be.

4.  I am quite excited for this season's Bachelor with Geico Man Ben the Bach.  He is growing on me...as is the drama that ABC always provides.  Looks like we have some villains who like to skinny dip and continued drama with the blogger!  Fantastic.

5.  I also watched the latest Pretty Little Liars this weekend.  Seriously, it is not to late to watch this one with all the other 14 year-olds.  I am just pleased to know that one of my dearest neighbors is also a PLL fan and I am not the only 30 year-old that indulges in the flick.

6.  I keep having dreams this weekend about anchors falling on my head.  What does this mean???

7.  Every day this week I drove less than 3 minutes to work and LOVED it.  I even didn't buckle my seat belt for one of the trips and felt like such a rebel!!  (I know...I know.  Most accidents happen close to your house.  I promise it was my only time!).  Just what am I going to do with 2 hours of commuting back in my life???  Yoga? Perhaps cook a week day dinner for the first time in over a year!?  The possibilities are endless.

8.  I had much needed drinks with my Dearest E this weekend.  We just talked for hours about anything and everything.  We gave each other encouragement, asked questions, and basically reassured ourselves that we are effing fabulous.  Gator Guy doesn't understand that we can just sit on the couch, drink micro brews, and talk.  He and his Bromance Bro instead play darts.  For hours.  Now, that I do not get.

9.  Aside from being sick, I am giddy to go to work tomorrow.  Giddy.  It has been a long time since I have felt that!

10.  Holy Crap the Broncos won!!!!

5 Things - 5 Days

1.  I am still on a high about the Bronco's win today against the Chargers.  It reinforces that a close second to watching Jay Cutler fail is watching Philip Rivers do just the same.  My soon-to-be-BFF-Tebow did a fantastic job  (even when allowed to throw.)  I have to give some MAJOR props to that O-Line for letting the T-mister have an eternity in the pocket.  But either way, the win feels great and this season is looking up!!!

2.  Thanksgiving was amazing.  Family, Food, and Fun...what more could you ask for.  Plus - Gator Guy smoked a Turkey for round two of Thanksgiving on Saturday.  He was up at 6am to begin the process while I slept sound asleep.  Hands down the best turkey I have ever had.  Strong work Gator Guy. Strong Work.
 3.  I totally skipped Black Friday shopping this year.  Probably the first time in quite some time.  For some reason, it just doesn't feel like the Christmas season yet without the hustle and bustle.  Who went out in the wee hours of the night or morning??  Any hot purchases??  I'm a little sad I missed out on 40% off at Banana Republic.  Damn you Banana...why did you not invest in the newspaper advertisement!!  However, I plan on indulging in some Cyber Monday for sure.  Anyone know of any HOT DEALS??  I plan on checking out Sports Authority for gifts, Bath & Body Works for face wash, and Victoria's Secret...well because, Mama needs a new sexy bra.

4.  I did a sake bomb for my first time at my bestie's bday dinner.  Any "shot" that involves chugging beer is a win in my book.

5.  FIVE MORE DAYS at my current job.  Yes.  Five.  (Stay tuned for the next chapter in my life).

Helmets are Required for Bachelorette Parties

I have a new requirement.  I shall now wear a helmet to any participating bachelorette party or crazy night out.

SUPPORTING EVIDENCE TO THIS NEW REQUIREMENT
Bachelorette Party #1...few years ago
Was sitting in a booth, enjoying my beer when all of a sudden a large picture fell off the wall and onto my head.  Concussion.  (Pic is not from that featured night, but still is the bride)

Bachelorette Party #2...This last Saturday
Was sitting on a roof top bar, enjoying my beer (before the Timmy concert...more on that to come), when all of a sudden a huge gust of wind came and one of the table umbrellas went flying and hit me right above the temple.  Concussion.  Thank goodness for the pocket umbrella, or else I would have melted from the rain.

Incident #3...Not a Bach Party...but accompanied by the Bachelorette #2.
Riding the mechanical bull...beat the bar women's record and then knocked out unconscious.  Concussion. Swollen face.  Could not chew food for a week.

LESSONS LEARNED....
1. While in Booze Hound mood....I need to wear a helmet.
2.  I still love that bull.

Why Hello Timmy & Your Ginormous Biceps

Let me take a moment to compose myself and calm down the blushing and racing heartbeat.  Yes, my Dearest K just sent me this pic of Tebow and boy did that make my day!  (Deep Breath)

However, I am a little sad that I did not get an invite to play this round with him.  I mean....is he not getting the point that I am his soon-to-be-BFF???  A friend of mine said on FB she was shocked that I haven't sent him connecting BFF necklaces.  I think this will be my next move.

Goodness...not that necklace.  This one.  Only as long as I get to be Be Fri.  Totally better than St Ends.

That's What Friends Are For

My Dearest E,

Our friendship is simply amazing. You really know me so well and go out of your way to make me smile.  And more importantly, I appreciate the fact that you do not judge me for drinking a ridiculous amount of microbrew on Saturday night or saying things like e-coin jumping. Because...well, you were right there with me.

And more importantly, I will continue to daydream about how you brought me my very own IPA microbrew to the Track last night as my post run refresher. I think we need to make this a tradition.

xoxo,
Kat

Rules for My BFF's Boys

As I begin to plan my Dearest A's bachelorette party, I am reminded of just how happy I am for her and her soon-to-be-hubby.  I was even lucky enough to have my very first photo shoot with them and play  around with some pictures.

But it also reminded me of my Three Rules for My BFF's Boyfriends, Fiances, Husbands, and Lovers (or lovas).

I suggest that you adopt the following policies for your BFFs as well:

1.  She Must Light Up - You know it when you see it.  And it's not that they are all over each other and sitting on eachothers laps in public (which by the way I cannot freaking stand...Find another chair people - it's not that hard!!), but it's more her glow...her smile....her presence...now that he is present in her life.   I know, its a little old school or perhaps the intro to Adventures-of-Babysitting, but just as Elisabeth Shue did, I picture my BFF draping the curtains over her head singing "And Then He Kissed Me".... simply because he is in her life.
2.  He Treats Her Like A Princess - Didn't we all daydream at one point in our lives  that we would be swept away by a strong and handsome prince (perhaps wearing a gator jersey or jockey shirt)??  But I have to be honest, that reality should never go away.  This does not mean that my BFFs need to live the Bach lifestyle and go on helicopter rides or Pretty Women shopping sprees for every date.  It just means that there should never be a doubt in my mind whether my BFFs are loved and treated....like a princess.

3.  If the situation were to arise where that BFF's boy and I were to spend 24 hours together...we better have a Damn Good Time - So what all does this entail?  Well, he must have a sense of humor, preferably with a lot of sarcasm.  He must be able to carry on a conversation...I don't have time or energy to deal awkward silence.  And he shall love sports...or at least be passionate about some sort of entertainment.  I cannot be bothered with 24 hours of philosophical talk, and even though our conversations may be deep into the meaning of life at some point...I want the comfort to know that we can just simply talk about the big game.

So...I must definitely say that my Dearest A's soon-to-be-hubby definitely passes with flying colors.  Do you have standards and policies for your BFFs??  If so, please do share.
