Dear NFL,

As I begin my day today, I have a new sense of comfort and relief about us.  As you know, you and I have a special relationship.  You are there for me at home, in person, on the radio, and more importantly in my heart.  And even though we always spend a little time apart over the summer, I felt completely lost with the thought of you not coming back to me this fall.  I felt incomplete.  I felt empty.

Already last night and this morning, you are more present than ever.   You give me updates about our future and there seems to just be a buzz about you.  You listened to what I needed and I can definitely see that you are making an effort which means the world to me.  NFL, we have been through so much together.  From the early days when I couldn't put down the Bronco Brick, the memories of our Deja Vu Championship, the freezing cold games in the snow, the tears when I was pregnant when you scored, and games when I lost my voice from pure excitement.  We have been through it all.

So, I am sorry that I doubted you coming back to me this fall.  But it just shows me more and more that I cannot live with out you.  NFL....you complete me.  You make me whole.  And I cannot wait for a beautiful season to come.

xoxo,
Kat

Fan of The Fan

News Flash -- I am kind of a sports fan.  (As I'm sure most of you are all rolling your eyes or saying "duh" at this very moment).  I am also a huge sports talk radio fan.   And so, when I heard that 104.3 The Fan was going to be out just a block from my office, I knew I had to stop by and say hi.  Even better, was the fact that this was on St Patrick's Day.  You know, the beautiful day in Denver with Green, Hoops, & Sunshine.  So after buying my green beer all by myself at the Oh-So-Crowded Tilted Kilt, I headed over to The Fan table to say hi.
Four Hours Later....I was with my new BFF, DMac (the host of The Drive) heading to the second half of the Gonzaga vs St John's first round game at the Pepsi Center.  Quite the experience I must say myself.  Not only sitting in the 3rd row of the game, but just having a chance to hang out with one of the guys that I listen to almost every day.

As the night went on, we covered just about every subject manageable:  Tebow, Marathon Training, Hurricane McDaniel's Departure, Gator Guy, My New Love for Yoga, College hoops, The Future of the Broncos, Mr. T, Bracketology,  Tebow's Determination, Hiking a 14er, My Hatred for Cutler, My Passion for the Broncos, My Desire to be Erin Andrews, My love for Tebow, Football, My Lack of Baseball Knowledge....Oh yeah, and Tebow

Dear Mike & Mike,

Even though I am still waiting for my signed copy of your Rules for Sports and Life, I am even more heart broken today as I read in the local paper that you will no longer be on my Oh-So-Favorite radio station, 104.3 The Fan.  Good news, I can still wake up to your smiling face live on ESPN, but not hearing your voices on my daily drive in will be quite the adjustment.

xoxo,
Kat

PS...I am pretty free the next few months if you are interested in swinging by with that signed copy.  Just sayin.

Dear Cutler,

I have pondered all week about this.  Just what do I say to you?  Do I include explicit language?  Do I just say, "I told you so"?  Do I feel grateful that I once asked if you were a fat kid and made you carry my purse?  Or do I just simply laugh....along with the rest of the nation?  Decisions, decisions.

However, I think the tweets and pictures say it all.

I have to admit Jay, I find pure joy watching your failure.  I experience moments of giddiness when I come across one of these gem pictures and know that there are so many others that think and laugh like me.

I have loved listening to Mike & Mike and The Drive as they dissect your pouty face expressions, lack of knee brace, and poor leadership.

So now, let's take a look at some of the tweets & comments out there:
  • Alfred Williams, Fmr Bronco, co-host on The Drive - "The game was just too big for Cutler.  Just too Big."
  • Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars RB - "All I'm saying is that he can finish the game on a hurt knee... I played the whole season on one...
  • Ross Tucker, Frm Redskin, Brown, Patriot, etc. - "I've hurt my knee playing football 4 times. Never once did I then stand up on sidelines afterwards."
  • Anthony Armstrong, Redskins WR - "Knee-gate in Chicago"
  • Darnell Dockett, Cardinals DL - "If I'm on chicago team jay cutler has to wait till me and the team shower get dressed and leave before he comes in the locker room!"
  • Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars RB - "Hey I think the urban meyer rule is effect right now...Whtn the going get tough...QUIT"  (I love the fact this is a Cutler insult...however, I ignore that it also bashes my beloved Meyer.)
  • Mark Schlereth, Frm Bronco, co-host The Drive and ESPN - "As a guy who had 20 knee surgeries you'd have to drag me out on a stretcher to Leave a championship game!"
  • Matt Barnes, Lakers forward -  "I can't believe Jay Cutler hasn't even TRYED (sic) to come back.. This is to go to the Super Bowl.. That's crazy"
  • Roman Oben, former Giants and Bucs OT - "Jay Cutler must answer the critics about his toughness, or lack there of.."
  • Kerry Rhodes, Cardinals safety - "Cmon cutler u have to come back. This is the NFC championship if u didn't know! ... Kerry Rhodes speaks."
  • Derrick Brooks, former Buccaneers LB  - "HEY there is no medicine for a guy with no guts and heart"

Why do I care Jay?  Why did your lack of leadership change the power of Twitter and the Media?  Why did your "fans" burn your jersey?  Well, because it is just so damn disappointing.
You were right there Jay....With the championship at your freaking fingertips.  And whether your "2nd degree MCL sprain" is legit or not, your demeanor on the sidelines was a joke.  And to finally quote Big Al from The Drive, "As fans, we do not want starters....we want finishers".  Finishers Jay.  Quarterbacks that can take us to the finish line.  Leaders that finish the season with all their bumps and bruises.  Finishers.

So thank you Cutler.  You have made this week very entertaining.

xoxo,
Kat

What do tigers dream of, when they take a little snooze

Ok, so not that tiger...but let's talk about this Tiger.

Woods was on Mike & Mike yesterday and is the buzz all over the sports and entertainment world.  You can listen to the full interview here or read a recap here.

How would your life be if that Thanksgiving day didn't happen?  If that didn't happen, I don't think I would be as blessed or as balanced as I am now.  Last November, everything I knew about myself changed abruptly.

Are you a happier man today?  Definitely.  More clear about my perspective, who I am and where I want to go.  Its amazing how much better I feel internally each and every day.

On his thoughts about being a better player: I can't get better as a player if I don't get better as a person.

What do you say to those that say you have used performance enhancing drugs?  Everyone is entitled to their opinion....

Tiger, what are you thankful for for this Thanksgiving?  I am thankful for my kids.  I enjoy teaching them something each and every day.  Something my dad would do.  I try to now do the same thing with my kids and its a blast.

So what are your thoughts?  Reactions to the interview have been all over the place.  Some saying that Tiger was very fake, rehearsed, and robot-like.  Others say that he has always been a private person, and so to have this kind of reaction on a phone interview is pretty standard.
I think it was the right time for this interview.  I think that his reaction to the questions were rehearsed, but not because a PR agent is whispering in his ear.  He is clearly going through therapy and concentracting on himself and his kids...which IMO is a must.  He said that he is happier and well balanced now.  I believe that. A man sleeping around with every skank around are not those actions of a happy man.  I am ready to see him be that player again and move on from this.
So as a golf fan (or not) will you watch Tiger?  Will you cheer him on for more championships?  We all know that other athletes (i.e. Great Michael Jordan) played around in the same extra curricular activities as Woods.  So when does it come back to the game? When will we see the same red-shirt-fist-pumping-champion-winning Tiger again?

Waiting for My Signed Copy

Dear Mike & Mike,

So back in March, I heard some AMAZING news.  You were releasing a book.  Greenie & Golic, wrote a book!!  A book full of debates and debacles about everything sports and life.  A book that I just could not wait to read.

I was so excited, and on the release date, I headed to the nearest Barnes and Noble to pick up a new fresh copy.  I finally had it.  The Rules for Sports and Life...in my pretty little hands.

And then I heard even better news.  That you were going on a book tour to give Mike & Mike fans like myself an opportunity to meet you, get a picture, get an autograph, and become BFFs.  I anxiously waited until you relieased your tour locations.

And then...

I saw that you were not coming to Denver.  Seriously.  You go to West Hartford, CT & Lyndhurst, OH but you do NOT come to DENVER.  I was devastated.  I am still devastated.  I have waited.  Month after month, in hopes that you would someday make the trip to come visit The Stink.  But no.  No signed copy for Kat.

Then I was convinced that you would make it out to training camp to give us the low down on the Tebow madness.   But no. Still no signed copy for Kat.  No BFF bracelets being made.

So please Mike & Mike.  Please come to Denver.   Come cheer on those Broncos.  Come to Buffalo Wild Wings on Monday nights with Big Al, D-Mac, and The Stink.  But more than anything, come to Denver to hang out with ME!!!

xoxo,
Kat

M&M, You Complete Me

Dear Mike & Mike,
I had a nightmare last night.  It. Was. Awful.  Your show on ESPN2 was canceled.  Gone. I am sure that I shed real tears in my sleep, yelled out some explicit language, or perhaps gave an elbow jab to Gator Guy with my frustration.  My dream reminded of the day that I woke up and found that the World Cup had taken over your channel and time slot and my mood was immediately ruined. I was not able to see your faces and listen to you banter about all things sports as I dried my hair and put on my mascara.  I was truly a nightmare.   So please Mike & Mike, never leave me.  Never.

xoxo,
Kat
